Legends of Runeterra: Voltron Mechanic
The objective of this set was to create the Voltron strategy (e.g. deck where you put all your resoures on a single unit to defeat your opponent) in Legends of Runeterra's Path of Champions. The main difficulty was to find a way to make the strategy work while using other units or cards, as any other champion of this game mode would.
The solution I found to make the strategy work was to make the Voltron unit "equip" the others you could pick during your adventure by sacrificing them. This approach allows the player to use the same tools as other decks, but in a new way, allowing the deck to run smoothly. The sacrifice synergy also allows the player to benefit from certain card interactions.​​
For the champion for this strategy, and thus the Voltron unit, I have decided to use Xolaani. Which isn't a League of Legends' champion, but a character beloved by the fans. Which goals and powers suited perfectly the mechanic. Making her a 1 cost unit allows the player to start the strategy directly, making the deck smooth to play.
